Focus on leveraging hybrid SDI-IP networks to preserve, extend baseband investment

Imagine Communications, a global leader in video and advertising solutions serving the media and entertainment, multichannel video programming distributors and enterprise markets, will feature the latest innovations from its network and playout solutions portfolios at the 2015 Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Exhibition, one of the Asian broadcast industry’s most influential events. BIRTV 2015 will be held August 26-29 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.

Visitors to the Imagine Communications booth (8A03) will have up-close access to the company’s most recent technology breakthroughs, products and solutions from the market leader’s routing, encoding and playout portfolios, including those making their debut at BIRTV. The Imagine Communications BIRTV 2015 experience will include in-depth demonstrations of the company’s Ultra-High Definition (UHD) signal processing and compression capabilities, as well as its market-proven cloud playout and multiscreen distribution solutions. In addition, attendees have the opportunity to observe comprehensive demonstrations and engage with regional Imagine Communications specialists on a variety of topics relevant to the Asian broadcast community.

Major themes for Imagine Communications at BIRTV 2015 include how the company is assisting media companies in all regions of the world to transition gracefully to next-generation technologies at their own pace and down their own path, as well as the way software-defined solutions are helping broadcast professionals increase agility and improve productivity without incurring the cost or disruption of major hardware upgrades.

“The Asia-Pacific region, and China in particular, represents a key customer base for Imagine Communications,” said Joe Khodeir, Senior Vice President for Asia, Imagine Communications. “A major focus of this show is to emphasize to the Asian broadcast community the importance of partnering with a supplier that understands the critical need to sharpen your competitive edge through the graceful adoption of the latest technologies and standards, streamlining your workflows and optimizing the monetization of your content assets.”

Solutions and products being demonstrated, some for the first time at the BIRTV exhibition, include:

SDI/IP Hybrid Routing and Processing: Imagine Communications will demonstrate the ability of the Magellan™ SDN Orchestrator to oversee signaling routing across an integrated infrastructure comprised of the company’s Platinum™ routers and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) switching equipment.

Signal Processing and Compression: Demonstrations will include UHD playout and infrastructure solutions using the Imagine Communications Nexio™ servers and Selenio™ up/down converters. The company will also be demonstrating its ability to support TICO®, a mezzanine format for UHD for IP and SDI infrastructures.

Multiscreen Playout and Distribution: Imagine Communications will demonstrate the efficiency and future-proof attributes of the VersioCloud™ playout-in-the-cloud solution, as well as its OTT distribution system, anchored by SelenioFlex™ Live and SelenioFlex File.

Additional market-leading solutions on display will be the recently introduced Platinum VX router family and Calibre FOVEA-F1.
