Challenges in Monitoring the Evolving Complexity in Video Networks

Recorded at IBC 2025

Next generation monitoring for video networks

Video networks have always been challenging to monitor effectively, especially when compared to traditional data networks. The continuing evolution of video networks results in increased complexity, greater technology diversity and a growing burden on the video network operator to assure very high levels of network availability with content quality through these changes.

The shift from SDI to IP-based networks is amplifying these challenges causing network operators to create a patch-work of monitoring and control tools to cover all the various aspects of the network. The traditional monitoring tools don’t effectively cover the latest operating environments and new network factors that can indicate potential issues.

Comprehensive monitoring requires understanding the critical factors that can impact the video network health and tools that can provide the coverage necessary to provide the level of observability required for the new generation of video networks.

Our live session at IBC2025 highlighted what truly impacts network health and how comprehensive monitoring can deliver the observability needed for the new generation of video networks.
