Comprehensive upgrade fuels Indonesian broadcaster’s moves to flexible HD playout operations
Imagine Communications, empowering the media and entertainment industry through transformative innovation, has developed an integrated master control room solution for jawapostv, a part of Jawa Pos Group. The new solution has been installed at sites in Jakarta and Surabaya.
jawapostv broadcasts news from cities across Indonesia. Upgrading from a third-party, channel-in-a-box solution, the broadcaster recognized the need for more flexible and agile operations, greater functionality and the added resilience that comes from a more comprehensive solution.
The new MCR design uses Imagine Communications’ market-proven ADC™ automation, with redundant Versio™ integrated playout systems. The installation also includes Imagine’s master control switcher and Versio™ Graphics, which provides dynamic links to social networking services, such as Twitter and Facebook, and rich animation features. Content is stored on a network of Nexio® servers, and media is managed by Nexio Motion™. Imagine has also implemented a direct link between the content automation and jawapostv’s newsroom computer system, providing simple editorial control and production automation.
“As we have grown as a broadcaster, we were becoming increasingly limited by our original technology platform,” said Yudid Andri Setiyawan, head of broadcast and IT at jawapostv. “We needed to move to more powerful functionality and, as we were adding a newsroom computer, we needed a seamless integration layer. Imagine Communications was able to set up the Versio in less than an hour and demonstrated during the proof of concept that it can provide a complete MCR solution that is reliable and flexible, with clear monitoring and simple support. And Versio’s multifunction capabilities help us reduce wiring and eases the configuration of multiple devices.”

Comprehensive monitoring is provided by the Imagine Multiviewer. Signals are routed using the Platinum™ VX compact 48 x 48 router, and signal processing is provided by a range of Imagine Communications modules, signal generators, clock and waveform monitor.
The system was designed by the Imagine Communications team in Southeast Asia, implemented in conjunction with jawapostv and supported by PT Dwi Kreasi Media, which provided local engineering resources.
